It’s light and fresh, displaying an abundance of bright red fruits and hints of cinnamon and spice. “Nock Out” Blend: 100% Malbec Appellation: Lodi, CA Winemaker: Markus Bokisch & Elyse Perry Release Date: September 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Seth Rexilius Availability: 500 cases producedThis wine’s story: In your hands is the very first vintage of our new wine, Nock Out Red!

This white is her desired style- light, refreshing and crisp, with an almost unnoticeable touch of sweetness. “Calavera Red” Blend: 100% Syrah Appellation: Washington State Winemaker: Justin Wylie Consulting Winemaker: Megan Massacre Release Date: September 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Megan Massacre Availability: 150 cases producedThis wine’s story: This red is part of Nocking Point’s two-bottle collaboration with renowned NYC tattoo artist, Megan Massacre. So, we went to our buddy Sean Boyd with the ask and as always, he did not disappoint. The finished wine is called Right on Red as a nod to one of Carolla’s most favorite and renowned rants about California drivers. As stated so eloquently on the back label by Adam; “Don’t do your best, do my best.”. “Unscripted” Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah Appellation: Washington State Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Seth Rexilius Availability: 205 cases producedThis wine’s story: Unscripted is a nod to the off-the-cuff.
The improvised. To saying what you mean, and meaning what you say.
It’s a nod to spontaneity, seizing the moment and being authenticon screen, and off. This blend features two of the most renowned red grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, in a 50/50 split! It’s not a very common blend, but we’re excited to see these two grapes shine, with the Syrah bringing in some serious earthy, barnyardy characters and the Cabernet showing dark fruits, and a strong backbone of acidity. “MAJA” Blend: 100% Pinot Gris Appellation: Yakima Valley Winemaker: John Freeman Release Date: June 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas x Mavi Amell Availability: 550 cases producedThis wine’s story: As always, the 2018 MAJA was creative directed by Maverick Alexandra Jean Amell, daughter of Stephen and Cassandra Amell.
This year brought her the inspiration to include a pony on the label, but not just any pony, “a yellow pony with pink hair, that loves every rainbow in town.” This vintage is a special one, as you’ll notice the color of the wine is more pink than usual! This can happen with Pinot Gris (Gris = Grey), which tends to have berries and subsequently juice that turn grey/pink in color.
Every vintage is different, and this year the grapes took on a more pink hue than usual, resulting in a pale rose color in the finished wine! Tastewise, this wine is consistent with past years, with hints of white peach, white flowers, jasmine and honeysuckle. “Real Talk” Blend: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre Appellation: Washington State Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Seth Rexilius Availability: 500 cases producedThis wine’s story: One area where our long-time winemaking partner Sean Boyd really shines is with his infamous GSM blends. This one is the best we’ve seen yet- with bold fruit, ample spice, and such perfect balance that all of the elements of this red just fit together seamlessly. When it came time to decide what charity we’d like to support with our June box this year, it was unanimous that we give a nod to a cause that we can all relate to – mental health awareness.
A percentage of proceeds from each bottle of Real Talk shipped will be donated to a non-profit organization that support mental health awareness. “Beadle Juice” Blend: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot Appellation: California Winemaker: Scot Bilbro Consulting Winemaker: Michelle Beadle Release Date: May 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Seth Rexilius x Michelle Beadle Availability: 500 cases producedThis wine’s story: For our May Tastemakers’ Club collaboration we teamed up with friend, lady-boss and sports reporter Michelle Beadle! Michelle drinks only the finest reds, and was well versed in those big Cabernets from Napa Valley, so we looked to our winemaker in Northern California to pull some reds out of barrel that might stand the taste test to become Beadle Juice! After a fun blending session with Michelle, some friends and her brother, we landed on a blend of three renowned, robust grapes: Cab, Malbec, and the darkest of them all Petit Verdot.

The easiest way to describe this one is, “It tastes like a regular Malbec, but somehow it’s just WAY BETTER”. This Washington Malbec is a crowd pleaser- a little bit fruity, a little bit earthy, and all too easy drinking. “Table For Ravens” Blend: 100% Chardonnay Appellation: California Consulting Winemaker: Rob Prior Release Date: March 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Rob Prior Availability: 195 cases producedThis wine’s story: Rob’s favorite wine is Chardonnay- and not just any Chardonnay, but some of Northern California’s big name Chardonnays that are full-bodied, creamy and full of buttery notes. So, knowing that Andrew and Stephen (NP founders) weren’t much into Chardonnay, he decided to give them the metaphorical middle finger and make the coolest, edgiest Chardonnay that he could. We think he succeeded.

This one is a classic Willamette Valley style – friendly in nature, full of red fruit flavors and some earthiness to top it off. Made by one of WA’s most esteemed winemakers, this is a top-shelf Pinot (and a total steal!) for NP members only.

Made by talented winemaker Sean Boyd in Walla Walla Washington, this is one of those drink-all-day whites. “BYE & BYE” Blend: 100% Syrah Appellation: Walla Walla Valley, WA Winemaker: Justin Wylie Release Date: February 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Seth Rexilius Availability: 185 cases producedThis wine’s story: Bye and Bye (also referred to by the Indian term “Alki”) is the unofficial motto of Washington State. Some say it alludes to hope for the future. All we know is that we love Washington State, and we love Syrah!

What’s in the bottle is refreshing, with notes of lemon, fresh-squeezed lime, cold tea, and a subtle aroma of white flowers. Don’t be fooled by it’s delicate aromas-the line of acidity in this wine is equally as powerful as what Tom’s wine is throwing around. “PURE EVIL RED” Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Washington State Winemaker: Justin Wylie Consulting Winemaker: Thomas Welling Release Date: January 1, 2019 Original Label Art By: Brian Roll Availability: 160 cases producedThis wine’s story: Tom Welling is partial to big reds–and particularly Bordeaux Varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
He had his vision set on a wine that would pair well with a piece of meat, and that’s exactly what he found. One sip of this Cabernet, and he knew it was the one that would stand up to a Rib Eye—and stand up to his evil nemesis. “Year VI” Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Washington State Winemaker: Justin Wylie Release Date: December 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown Availability: 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: This is year VI of our flagship red! We can’t believe it’s been six years, but one thing’s for sure we’re still as psyched on Walla Walla Cabernet as we were on day one!

I want the last bottle you order at the end of a great evening.
I want a night ender”, and with those words from our good friend Aisha Tyler, the awesome name and concept for this wine was born. NIGHT ENDER is a 50/50 blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon and combines notes of plum, black cherry and white pepper with a profile that is dry and robust, with soft tannins. What does all this mean? It means this blend = a wine that is smooth, rich, mouth-filling, and so appropriately unapologetic. Pop this one at the end of an evening soon! “3rd Date Cabernet” Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: September 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown x Stephen Amell Availability: 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: “Why 3rd date? You’ll find juicy red fruits like cherry, strawberry and rhubarb along with notes of vanilla. Easy drinking on the palate, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is great whether you’re enjoying it over a casual pizza or an impressive home-cooked meal. “NP Origins” Pinot Noir Blend: 100% Pinot Noir Appellation: Willamette Valley, OR Winemaker: Sarah Cabot Release Date: September 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown Availability: 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: Walla Walla is on the Oregon border and with our personal love of Pinot Noir, we know we had to produce ours alongside our neighbors to the south. This is the second vintage of “Origins”, our annual homage to the people and places from our past who helped us become who we are today.
This vintage is a great mix of red fruit flavors intermingling with earthy, rustic notes. It’s a classic Willamette Valley style, balanced and easy-drinking by nature. This one is particularly special to Stephen, as the image on the label shows his grandparents together in one of their favorite places, on Lake Simcoe, in 1954. “DIRTBAG” RED BLEND Blend: A big, bold, spicy red blend Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Justin Wylie Consulting Winemaker: Jason Momoa Release Date: June 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Jason Momoa Availability: 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: In our good buddy Jason Momoa’s own words ‘I’ve been buddies with Stephen for years now and I love supporting my friends whenever I can make it happen. I think many people know I love my wine and Guinness so when Nocking Point gave me the chance to select my own personal wine blend — a big, spicy, Bordeaux-style red — and put a piece of artwork I created on the label I was in. I’m stoked for Nocking Point’s wine club members to get their hands on this one and I can’t wait to get a ton of it dropped off at my house too.’.

Everyone loves sloths and you’re going to love this light, crisp Pinot Gris on a warm summer day soon! “KDH SAUVIGNON BLANC” Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: March 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: Kennedy Drew Harding turned 3 years old in 2017, the year this wine was harvested and our production was planned for a 2018 release.
She and her best friend Mavi each get to art-direct their own wine label each year and this is her 3rd consecutive masterpiece following the duck in 2016 and the princess in 2017. This year she asked for ‘A unicorn, a duck, and a princess castle!’.

The easiest way to describe this one is, “It tastes like a regular Malbec, but somehow it’s just WAY BETTER”. Maybe it’s the name? We love it because Malbec is a diverse red that can be enjoyed day or night while pairing equally well with meat, fish, or even vegetarian eats.
It’s truly one-of-a-kind! “FIRST RESPONDER’S ROSE´” Blend: Grenache + Cinsault Appellation: Walla Walla Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: March 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: 375 cases producedThis wine’s story: As you’re all very aware, late 2017/early 2018 was a devastating time for the Santa Barbara, LA, and Ventura counties of Southern California. The historic fires preceded the devastating mudslides in early 2018 and as LA residents, we watched it all unfold in real-time in the local news. Through all of the devastation we there was always one consistent theme of hope and positivity — the courageous and life-saving efforts of the First Responders. Rather than do our typical celebrity collaboration as the 3rd bottle for this shipment, we decided to honor those First Responders with a red blend and a rose’ in their names.
A portion of all proceeds from these wines goes to benefit victims of the SoCal fires and First Responders across the country. “FIRST RESPONDER’S RED” Blend: 66% Merlot, 20% Syrah, 6% Cab Sauv, 3% Cab Franc, 5% Mourvedre Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Bill Murray Release Date: March 1, 2018 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: 375 cases producedThis wine’s story: As you’re all very aware, late 2017/early 2018 was a devastating time for the Santa Barbara, LA, and Ventura counties of Southern California. Last year Stephen produced the centaur and fire-packed artwork with our artist buddy Jason Badower.
This year Andrew art-directed Brian Roll on this thing of beauty. Just soak in the layers: Gold bars, a lion, an eagle, a wrestling championship belt, a sword and nunchucks, and a portrait-within-a-portrait. On top of all that this wine won multiple awards, including “THE BEST WINE OF ALL-TIME” at the Wine Competition of the Universe.
The back label says so which means it has to be legit. We can’t wait to see what Stephen comes up with for next year’s label! In the meantime we can’t wait for you all to soak in the glory of this year’s bottle when it lands on your doorsteps! “PACIFIC COAST PINK” Blend: Sparkling Rose’ Appellation: New Mexico Consulting Winemaker: Emily Bett Rickards Release Date: December 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Josh Malneritch Availability: Sold Out 375 cases producedThis wine’s story: We are super excited to do our first sparkling rose’ ever under the NP brand and we’re even more excited that we got to work with Emily Bett Rickards on this one-of-a-kind release! Emily has been a good friend and supporter of NP for years and collaborating with her on this bubbly was a blast. She worked with her buddy Josh on the labels and with zero input from us, they delivered these completely awesome labels fully finished and ready to go to the printer (which almost never happens!). She wanted to give a nod to her Vancouver/Pacific Coast roots in the artwork and with the pink juice she selected this finished product, “PACIFIC COAST PINK”, is sure to sell out incredibly fast.

The two talked about the wine and creative direction and Colton quickly made two specific requests: he wanted a Cabernet Sauvignon and the artwork needed to be a reflection of he and Stephen’s past of working together. Brian Roll delivered the perfect piece of artwork for the label, Stephen pitched the tagline “THE MOST HANDSOME CAB IN THE WORLD” — which got many laughs and stuck instantly — and John Freeman produced a beautiful Cab that we’re incredibly proud of.
Wait until you get your hands on this onethe glass and packaging are super-premium and this bottle just feels like a sturdy reserve wine that you can share with the most wine savvy company you’ve got and make them think you (and we) know what we’re doing! “YEAR 5” Blend: Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc, Syrah, Petit Verdot Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Justin Wylie Release Date: December 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown Availability: 975 cases producedThis wine’s story: This may be our best wine yet (very seriously) and it’s officially the 5th vintage — Year 5 — of our original flagship wine! Justin said that based on the fruit, oak, process, and special love & care he put into this one, we could easily justify $50+ per bottle for it. The label features a collage of past label art, logos, and NP icons inside of the Roman numeral 5 for our 5th year of winemaking.
We love, love, love this wine and you will too. Justin says this one will hold up through 2025 so drink it the second you open your box or hang onto it for a super special occasion 8 years from now!
“NP Origins” Pinot Noir 2014 Blend: 100% Pinot Noir Appellation: Willamette Valley, Oregon Winemaker: Sarah Cabot Release Date: September 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Harding Family Photo Archive (1917) Availability: 900 cases producedThis wine’s story: “NP Origins” is a new series of labels we are going to release that show our love and respect to those people in our past who helped us become who we are today. Kicking off this series of heartfelt labels is a photo of Andrew’s great-grandfather, Charles Harding Sr. Charles was first-generation German-American whose family came to the United States by way of Frank, Russia in the 1890’s. He built homes, poured concrete, fished, camped, and explored Washington and Oregon for 94 years. He saw and experienced things that we can only read about in history books. Andrew was lucky enough to spend 16 years hearing his gramps’ stories first-hand.
Gramps is smiling somewhere right now knowing that you’re holding a bottle of his great-grandson’s wine featuring a photo of him and his brand new 1917 Harley Davidson on the front of it. “WICKED AIM” Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Walla Walla Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: September 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Jeff Tasca Availability: 900 cases producedThis wine’s story: We love Wicked Aim because of how it began. We ran a Facebook campaign to decide the name and after thousands of great submissions, “Wicked Aim”, provided by our friend Hristo Dmitrov from Amsterdam gave us this perfect name that’ll live on forever. Our buddy Jon Chase provided the inaugural artwork featuring three arrows perfectly honed in on a target’s bullseye. 4 years later we’ve stayed with the same theme for the artwork, we’ve kept the name, and Sean Boyd has made us his 4th edition of NP’s 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine is all about a great story and this is a really fun one since it brings to life another true creative collaboration every year we release it.
And we love Cab. And this one is incredible! “DREAM” Sparkling Blend: 75% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir Appellation: New Mexico Winemaker: Laurent Gruet (curated by Cody Runnels) Release Date: September 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown (art directed by Cody Runnels) Availability: 400 cases producedThis wine’s story: Cody Runnels is a really great dude and a good friend of ours. He and his family are legends in the professional wrestling world. When we brainstormed ideas for Cody’s new wines he came up with his plan instantly: Make one wine for his father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, and one for himself, “The American Nightmare” Cody. His dad famously sported the yellow polka dots during his legendary career and Cody wanted this artwork to be paired with a world-class sparkling wine as a celebratory nod to his father, a true wrestling icon.
In Cody’s words, “Real men don’t just drink beer. Real men drink wine too.” We couldn’t agree more. This limited-edition collector’s sparkling wine is only available once via our wine club! “NIGHTMARE” GSM Blend: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd (curated by Cody Runnels) Release Date: September 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: New Japan Pro Wrestling Availability: Sold Out 400 cases producedThis wine’s story: “The American Nightmare” Cody Runnels is a wine guyand the World Champ. We had our own Apex rose´ teed up for the June shipment so we didn’t pitch them on pink wine at all. We had a great tasting session, ran through about a dozen samples, and after everything Zac looked at us and said “I really want a rose´.
It’s summer, I’ve recently discovered how great rose´ is, and I really think that’s our move.” So, we did TWO. These guys were a blast to work with and we are honored to have them as part of our NP crew! “MAJA” 2016 Blend: 100% Pinot Grigio Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Julie Brown Release Date: June 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Roll Availability: 850 cases producedThis wine’s story: “MAJA” stands for Maverick Alexandra Jean Amell, Stephen’s 3-year-old daughter. We let Mavi art-direct her namesake wine every year and when asked what she wanted to see on her label this year, she said (without even making eye contact and with zero hesitation): “a superhero princess with bubbles”. Brian Roll brought her vision to life with his artistic talent and his very first draft is the version you see on the bottle. Julie Brown produced the first Pinot Grigio ever created under the NP brand and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product.
Mavi approves big time. “Apex Rose´” 2016 Blend: Mourvedre, Syrah Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: Sold Out 700 cases producedThis wine’s story: PINK WINE FOR DUDES and the best wine label of two dudes high-fiving ever created returns for 2017 — and this time we’re in space. Why space you ask?
Because space, this rose´, and the 30-something year old dudes doing aerial high-fives are like the 3 coolest things ever. We can’t wait to show you where this high-five happens next year. “NP Sparkling” 2016 Blend: 80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir Appellation: New Mexico Winemaker: Our friends at Gruet Release Date: March 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown Availability: Sold Out 600 cases producedThis wine’s story: When you think of St. Paddy’s Day what do you think of? Whisky and Guinness?
You think of sparkling wine. What better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day than to pop this special edition of NP’s world-famous sparkling wine? Our friends at Gruet created a spectacular blend inside the bottle and our buddy Brian Brown gave the original NP logo a nice St. Paddy’s Day treatment for the label. “KDH” Sauv Blanc 2016 Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: March 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Roll Availability: Sold Out 600 cases producedThis wine’s story: “KDH” stands for Kennedy Drew Harding, Andrew’s 2-year-old daughter. Every year she gets to art direct her own wine label for Nocking Point and this is her 2016 creation.
We asked her what her favorite things are this year and without hesitation she said “Princesses, princess castlesand the moon!”. Sean Boyd created this light and crisp New Zealand-style Sauv Blanc and the super-talented Brian Roll brought Kennedy’s creative vision to life on the labeland Kennedy approves. “Amell-bec” 2015 Blend: 100% Malbec Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: The team at Waterbrook Release Date: March 1, 2017 Original Label Art By: Brian Brown Availability: Sold Out 600 cases producedThis wine’s story: The guys were enjoying a late dinner in November of 2016 in Atlanta with Stephen’s cousins Robbie, Robbie’s new bride Italia Ricci, and a few of their other friends. Andrew told Stephen, “We need to get our name locked down for the new Malbec, it’s ready to go and it ships early in 2017.” Italia spoke up without hesitation saying, “This is an easy one, call it a Malbec”.
At least that’s what we thought she said. We chuckled as her excellent idea soared right over our heads. “Guys, call it a Malbec” she said again and again it soared over our heads.
Finally, she slowed it down”AMELL-BEC, guys!”, and there you have it. The perfect name for a Malbec we’re super proud of. The fine winemaking team at Waterbrook in Walla Walla nailed this one for us. WW Valley Red Blend 2015 Blend: Estate Syrah, Cab Sauv Appellation: Walla Walla Valley Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla Release Date: December 1, 2016 Original Label Art By: Jason Badower Availability: Sold Out 350 cases producedThis wine’s story: For 4 years we had a 3.5 acre vineyard of Cab and Syrah just west of Walla Walla. Every year we made our estate blend from this vineyard (we will replace this wine with a new WW Valley blend so the labels can live on!). For the 2016 label Stephen art-directed our friend Jason Badower — the same artist who takes the lead on our annual comic book from DC Comics — and left Andrew 100% out of the process.
We think this label could be the greatest wine label ever created and we know with certainty that the eagle over Andrew’s shoulder is super-pissed and ready to rock and roll; Stephen specifically asked Jason to “make the eagle look angrier” during the final label iterations and he nailed it for us. Marie Eve-Gilla spectacularly blended our estate fruit for this vintage that we’re going to hang onto for many future special occasions.
“Year Four” Flagship Blend 2015 Blend: Syrah, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Malbec Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla Release Date: December 1, 2016 Original Label Art By: Jeff Tasca Availability: Sold Out 350 cases producedThis wine’s story: The name “Nocking Point” is a nod to archery; it’s the exact point where you “nock” an arrow on the bow string. Each year we create new label art for this blend that visually represents our brand’s special connection to archery. Our buddy Jeff Tasca in Toronto created this spectacular original piece for our 2016 release. Marie Eve-Gilla produced an incredibly soft, approachable, wine that we wish we had more of! “Wicked Aim” 2014 Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 100% Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: September 1, 2016 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (700 cases)This wine’s story: Stephen played two big characters in 2015 — The Green Arrow and Casey Jones.
Both of these characters have incredible aim with their crime-fighting tools of choice. “Wicked Aim” is a name that was produced out of a Facebook campaign held in 2013 when Hristo Dmitrov from Denmark delivered to us the winning name out of thousands of excellent submissions. Danny Haas, an artist from Florida who we love working with as often as possible, created this awesome custom piece of Stephen’s characters coming together into one. Sean Boyd produced a spectacular Cab Sauv for the wine and we just wish we had made more of this one-of-a-kind wine!
“KDH” Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Blend: Sauvignon Blanc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2016 Original Label Art By: Lord Mesa Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (360 cases)This wine’s story: “KDH” stands for Kennedy Drew Harding, Andrew’s daughter who was born in October of 2014. Every year she gets to art direct her own wine label for Nocking Point and this is her 2015 creation. Even at barely 1 year old we knew she loved ducks big time. “DUCKS!” she would shout anytime she saw one outside, in books, or in her bathtub. Being that wineries can’t market wines to kids, we had to take a typical rubber ducky visual and make it less likely to mesmerize children.
So, the super-talented and well-known artist Lord Mesa produced this duck fighter pilot piece for us and we couldn’t be happier with it. Kennedy calls the artwork “MY DUCK!” and the wine Sean made for this vintage couldn’t be any more spot on with what we love about our Sauv Blancs. “Apex Rose´” 2015 Blend: Cabernet Franc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2016 Original Label Art By: Danny Haas Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (360 cases)This wine’s story: We love Rose’.
It’s one of those wines that unless someone pulls you into it, at least as a guy, you naturally shy away from it for some reason. But, once you experience a great Rose’ afternoon with great company on a nice summer day, you’re a Rose’ lover forever. In the spirit of two guys embracing their love for pink wine and high-fives, we bring to you “APEX”, our “PINK WINE FOR DUDES”. That’s Stephen and Andrew actually high-fiving mid-air on the front label. Their good buddy and Nocking Point party emcee Nic Nicotera snapped the photo in the middle of a Studio City street and Danny Haas put his artistic touch on the background for this release. We love this wine and everything it represents. “Estate Blend” 2014 Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah Appellation: Walla Walla Valley Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla Release Date: December 1, 2015 Original Label Art By: Jason Badower Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (330 cases)This wine’s story: Stephen, Andrew, and their families spend their Christmas holidays together every year.
As a gift for Stephen in 2014, Andrew secretly art-direct Jason Badower, the lead artist on NP’s annual DC Comic book, to create this ridiculous piece of artwork that originally had no connection to our wines. Stephen opened this big, flat gift-wrapped piece on Christmas morning and leapt to his feet. “This is the coolest f.cking thing I’ve ever seen! This HAS to be a wine label!”. And so it is.
This kicked off a tradition of trading off every year to art-direct this wine’s label while leaving the other one of us totally in the dark during the process. The goal is to one-up the previous year’s creation and outdo the outrageousness from years prior. To say we have fun with this one is a MASSIVE understatement! “KDH Sauvignon Blanc” 2014 Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: June 1, 2015 Original Label Design By: Brian Brown Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (330 cases)This wine’s story: Andrew’s daughter Kennedy Drew Harding was born in 2014, the year this wine was released. Andrew’s wife, Jen, is Canadian. This makes Kennedy half-American, half-Canadian.
Brian Brown gave us a split shot of the Maple Leaf + Old Glory on the label for this vintage from Kennedy’s birth year. Kennedy art-directs new vintages of this wine now that she’s a walking talking kiddo. The New Zealand style Sauv Blanc inside the bottle by Sean Boyd is exceptional. “2009 Merlot” Blend: 100% Merlot Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Chuck Reininger New Releases: TBD Original Label Design By: Brian Brown Availability: Only Available at Our Parties! This wine’s story: At times in the wine business you stumble upon opportunities you can’t pass up on.
This wine is one of those stories. Chuck Reininger, a master winemaker in Walla Walla, shared some 2009 Merlot with us that he had been nurturing for years. It was some of the best red wine we’d ever tasted and we told him that.
Generously, he offered to peel off 100 cases for us if we wanted to make it our own and we instantly accepted the offer. For the label we felt like black on black was the natural call for this reserve-style wine. Due to the limited production we couldn’t include it in the wine club so we only make it available for our guests to taste at our parties! “APEX Rose´” 2013 Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: Spring 2014 Original Label Design By: Brian Brown, Photography by Nick Nicotera Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (100 cases)This wine’s story: We love Rose’. Not all dudes are wine drinkers and even fewer are pink wine drinkers. We wanted to bring to dudes everywhere a pink wine they could get on board with — a PINK WINE FOR DUDES as we like to call it.
And what do dudes do when they’re just being dudes? They high-five. Stephen and Drew ran, jumped like 50 inches off the ground, and performed an aerial high-five in the middle of the street one summer day in Studio City and their buddy Nick captured the photo of them right at the peak — the APEX — of their epic moment. And the rest is history.
“VERDANT HOUSE WINE” 2013 Blend: 100% Sangiovese Appellation: Walla Walla Valley Winemaker: Chuck Reininger New Releases: TBD Original Label Design By: Brian Brown Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (125 cases)This wine’s story: Oliver Queen owned an operated a club called “Verdant”. We felt like it made sense to create and offer “Verdant House Wine” to our friends and supporters. We asked those with creative control at WB and DC if we could borrow the name for a special one-off label and they gladly blessed the project. The wine is another special one-off from Chuck Reininger that is long gone by nowbut man, was it ever delicious! “YEAR TWO” FLAGSHIP BLEND 2013 Blend: 37.5% Syrah, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12.5% Mourvedre & Grenache Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla & Our Friends at Forgeron Release Date: December 1, 2013 Original Label Artwork By: DC Comic Artist Legend & Our Buddy, Jim Lee!
Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (300 cases)This wine’s story: This label and wine is the first one we ever produced. We worked with the talented Marie Eve-Gilla to produce a Bordeaux-style blend from the Columbia Valley as the establishing wine for our new brand. As important to us as the wine is the packaging and we wanted a classic, lasting piece of artwork as the centerpiece. We are lucky to have talented friends and we tapped our buddy, the legendary DC Comic artist Jim Lee, for our first label ever. He gave us a simple pencil sketch of the literal “nocking point” and his first attempt was of course perfection. We love this label, the wine, and the artwork will live on forever in some form within our brand! “WICKED AIM” Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Sean Boyd Release Date: September 1, 2014 Original Artwork By: Jon Chase Wine Name Contributed on Facebook by: Hristo Dimitrov.
“MAJA” 2013 Blend: Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc Appellation: Columbia Valley Winemaker: Marie-Eve Gilla Release Date: March 1, 2014 Original Artwork By: Elizabeth Barrington Availability: Sold Out Wine Club Only (300 cases)This wine’s story: “MAJA” stands for Maverick Alexandra Jean Amell, Stephens’ daughter. During the first two vintages of this wine Mavi was a little young to art direct the label but we knew we wanted a female superhero front and center as the artwork. An early supporter of ours from Canada, Elizabeth Barrington, had posted a really cool piece of artwork to our Facebook page a few weeks before we needed to design the label. That piece stuck in our minds and when it came time to finish the design, we decided to reach out to Elizabeth to get her blessing on using her original creation. She gladly accepted and MAJA, our superhero female wine, was born. We can’t wait to see what Mavi comes up with as the new artwork for this wine each year!
